Use this PPT to introduce daily routine vocab to pupils. It starts by introducing the vocab, then pupils have to choose between the two options in French. Then, they must identify the phrases with the vowels missing. Finally, play a game of Blockbusters with the class to practise the new vocab.

Use this PPT to introduce places in town in French. On the first slides, in two teams, students choose a square. Click on the square to reveal a part of the image underneath. Students decide to either guess the place in French or pass to the other team. If they guess correctly, they get a point. If they guess incorrectly, the other team get the point. This encourages students to use context and clues to work out the new vocab. Finish with a team game. Students choose a number and answer a question about places in town. If they guess correctly, click to reveal their score underneath.

This PPT introduces pupils to prepositions in French, using Where’s Wally? Pupils must find Wally first. After he’s been found, introduce the preposition. At the end of the presentation, pupils must then match the French preposition to the English.

Type in a word/phrase it the TL on one line and then the equivalent in English opposite it (as in the example). Do this within each inner section and then cut it up into cards. Pupils fill in the gaps in the grid, using their knowledge of adjective endings.

This activity can be done in pairs or as a class. As a class, one pupil leaves the room while everyone else decides what the correct sequence should be. The pupil re-enters the room and tries to guess the sequence. If incorrect, they have to start again. It's better as a pairwork activity. One pupil decides which options they want to use in the complete paragraph. The other reads through the paragraph, guessing the options as they go. If incorrect, they must start again. Cue lots of laughter!

Use this PPT to introduce and practise French letter/letter string pronunciation. The first slide introduces each letter/letter string with an example, then there is a Kim's Game-style game to practise pronunciation. Finally, play Connect 4 with pupils using the given words. Use this PPT to introduce the advantages and disadvantages of technology. Start by seeing if students can work out if these are advantages or disadvantages of technology. Students then discuss in pairs how they (could have) worked out the English meaning, using the clues.

Use this PPT to present directions in German. The PPT features an animated arrow, followed of course by the German phrases for the corresponding directions.

This Connect 4 game practises the simple future of both regular and irregular verbs in French. Pupils work in two teams (red and blue) and their objective is to get 4 (or 3, if you prefer) of their coloured rectangles in a row. This can be vertically, horizontally or diagonally. In presentation mode, click on the relevant coloured circle to change the colour of the rectangle.

This PPT introduces the concept of masculine and feminine to students (using 'un/une').

Consider introducing and using some of this vocabulary as early as possible with pupils. Of course, some of it is more suited to higher ability and A level students. This is a simple list of opinion phrases and their English translation.

This PPT introduces pupils to 8 different famous French people in history. Each person has a short text to describe them and pupils work together to translate each text. Pupils then use the attached cards to match the pictures to their descriptions. The attached worksheet is designed for pupils to write short paragraphs in French about the people studied. A quiz PPT has now been added for post-lesson revision.

The text is on the topic of smoking and is aimed at KS4. In 2 teams, pupils choose a word to find in the text. The pupils don’t know what each word is worth. Click on the word they have chosen when they have correctly identified it in the text and their score will be revealed. The winning team is the team with the highest score once all words have been found in the text.
